Research Paper Prospectus

Moroni, an ancient Book of Mormon prophet, appeared to Joseph Smith and gave him many instructions relative to events to come. Joseph quotes Moroni who said, "that God had a work for me to do; and that my name should be had for good and evil among all nations, kindreds, and tongues, or that it should be both good and evil spoken of among all people" (Joseph Smith History 1:30, 33). The fulfillment of Moroni’s words is clearly seen through the reactions of many to Joseph Smith's prophecy, of the Civil War, given nearly twenty-nine years before the war commenced. History is replete with explicit evidence of its fulfillment and yet there are many who ignore or attempt to discredit this evidence in an effort to refute the irrefutable. I will navigate the reader back through time to just prior to December 25, 1832 when the prophecy was given and from there examine the highs and lows encompassing this nation and the world as told by history. The ride will not entirely end there for the depth and amplitude of this prophecy is yet untold by history but is unequivocally foretold by God.
Although this prophecy is only eight verses, equaling only 293 words, its impact is immensely potent. The Lord through Joseph Smith provided a fragmented and yet encompassing blueprint of the great destruction that has already come and will come upon the earth starting with the rebellion of South Carolina which led to the Civil War and ending with the consumption decree and end of all nations. The Lord also prepared in this blueprint a few beams of light in this ever gloomy array of war and death that can protect and strengthen all those that heed His words. Throughout the journey through time this paper will not only provide irrefutable data of the historical fulfillment of the Lords prophecy given through Joseph Smith but also look at what may be forth coming that all may learn from the past and with a little effort pave the road to a brighter future.
